While studying scripture I came across Ephesian 6:12-13, a well-known passage telling us,”For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” In The Message translation I found an amazing illustration of the thought we need to be taking from this scripture. Listen to what it says: “This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so when it’s all over but the shouting, you’ll still be on your feet.” Lets not forget about the spiritual battle we face on a daily basis and be prepared with all of the armor God has afforded us. We deceive ourselves if we think this is not happening. Fight on!
